Welcome to Capitol Square Healthcare

Capitol Square Healthcare Clinic is a joint venture between the Department of Human Resource Management (DHRM) and VCU Health to provide on-site medical care for Commonwealth of Virginia (State) Employees. Download our Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ) document here to learn more.

Whether you need a Primary Care Physician (PCP) to manage all of your medical care or one-day visit to assist with an immediate health concern — we can help. The Capitol Square Healthcare team includes a physician, nurse practitioner, nurses and an on-site lab. Health Services are available to all State Employees for a specified fee. Health Services are offered all State Employees enrolled in the State Health Benefits Plans, COVA Care and COVA Health Aware with no copayment required.

Our clinical team can get you in and out of most appointments in less than 30 minutes. That minimizes your time away from work, especially if you are in the downtown area. As an added convenience, if your treatment plan results with the need of medication, many can be e-prescribed and dispensed by the clinic or filled by the pharmacy of your choice.

Patient-Centered Care

Our focus is primary care. We offer emergent care for patients with regular community providers and primary treatment for those without regular providers. We’re also a convenient resource for managing chronic conditions, including high blood pressure and diabetes checks. If you need to see a specialist, we can make a referral.

Helping employees take care of themselves when even a minor issue arises can save medical costs in the long run. We fill an important need downtown, and our patients give us a 98 percent approval rating.

We make healthy choices accessible

Because we serve about 11,000 state employees in Downtown Richmond, we make sure that prevention is a big part of our mission. We offer educational and outreach efforts that promote healthy choices and keep healthcare accessible. For example, we offer special sessions where you can get your annual flu shot.
