It begins with your very first appointment:

1. A team of breast cancer specialists will consult with you on your treatment plan.

Our multidisciplinary approach means that a team of physicians—all breast cancer specialists from a variety of disciplines—will collaborate to diagnose your cancer, recommend a treatment plan and coordinate your care. At your first appointment, they will explain your diagnosis, discuss all of your treatment options and answer all of your questions. It’s this kind of collaboration that sets Massey’s Breast Cancer Collaborative Care Clinic apart from other hospitals, and it provides more experience, expertise and insight into your evaluation—leading to the best possible outcomes for you.

The various treatments for breast cancer include surgery, radiation therapy and medicines such as chemotherapy, hormonal therapy, immunotherapy and targeted therapies. Many women get more than one of these treatments, which is why collaborative, multidisciplinary care like Massey’s is so important. You’ll receive the ideal combination and sequence of treatments, planned by experienced physicians who are working together to coordinate your care.

2. You’ll see all of your oncologists the first day, reducing treatment delays and anxiety.

When you’re diagnosed with cancer, you and your loved ones face many unknowns. Many cancer patients will say that the uncertainty and the waiting are the hardest parts of their cancer experience.

Understanding your cancer and what to expect can help you and your loved ones make the best decisions. That’s why we bring a team of breast cancer experts – world-class specialists in surgical oncology, medical oncology and radiation oncology – to your first appointment in a one-stop consultation process to answer your questions and explain your options. You’ll leave your first visit with the confidence of knowing you have a cutting-edge treatment plan designed just for you.

3. A nurse navigator will guide you on your first visit and through treatment and recovery.

At your first appointment at Massey’s Breast Cancer Collaborative Care Clinic, your nurse navigator will meet you and guide you through your visit and what to expect with your care. Your nurse navigator will help you navigate your care throughout treatment and recovery, ensuring that your questions are answered, your needs are addressed and your care experience is optimal.
